Detailed Artwork, Clean Woven Finish
Some patch designs need more than a bold logo. They have small lettering, curved text, fine outlines, illustrated artwork, and strong color contrast all in one piece.
For this customer project, we used a woven patch to keep the design sharp and easy to read. The artwork includes detailed animal graphics, small top text, bold bottom lettering, and a bright yellow background.
With a traditional embroidered patch, some of those details could become too thick or crowded. Woven patches give us a flatter surface and finer detail, which makes them a better choice for complex logos and small text.
We also added black Velcro backing, so the patch can be used on backpacks, jackets, uniforms, tactical gear, or display panels. The black merrowed border helps frame the yellow design and gives the rectangle patch a clean, finished edge.

Should I choose woven or embroidered patches for my design?
It depends on your design. Choose embroidered patches if your logo has thick lines, a simple layout, or you want a classic raised texture. Choose woven patches if your design includes small text, fine lines, or intricate details. Embroidery may blur very small details, while woven patches create a flatter, smoother finish that keeps the artwork sharper.
Are there any design limitations for woven patches?
Woven patches are great for fine details, but they are still made with threads, not printed on paper. For clear results, English letters should usually be at least 2 mm tall, and Chinese characters should usually be at least 4 mm tall.
Woven patches also do not support smooth gradients. If your design has gradients, we usually recommend simplifying them into solid color areas or choosing printed patches instead.
What backing options do you offer, and how do I attach them?
We offer several backing options depending on how you plan to use your patches:
- Sew-on / Plain backing: Soft, flexible, and best for sewing directly onto garments, collars, cuffs, or fabric items.
- Iron-on / Heat seal backing: Uses heat-activated adhesive and can be applied with a household iron or heat press.
- Velcro / Hook and loop backing: Available as hook-only or with both sides. Great for uniforms, tactical gear, bags, and removable patches.
- Adhesive / Peel-and-stick backing: Works like a sticker and is best for temporary events or hard surfaces like notebooks.
- Plastic / PVC backing: Adds a thin plastic layer to make the patch stiffer and help it stay flat.
- Non-woven / Paper backing: Covers the back threads for a cleaner look and a softer feel against the skin.
- Pin backing: Mounted with a safety pin or butterfly clutch so the patch can be worn like a brooch.

What border styles are available? Can you make custom shapes?
Yes, custom shapes are fully supported. We offer several border styles to match different patch designs:
- Laser cut / Hot cut border: Clean melted edges that help prevent fraying. Best for irregular or complex custom shapes.
- Merrowed border: A classic thick wrapped border, usually around 3–4 mm wide. Best for regular shapes like circles, squares, and rectangles.
- Embroidered border: Combines a flat woven center with a raised embroidered edge for a more premium look.
- Frayed / Raw edge: Creates a loose-thread look for vintage, distressed, or streetwear-style patches.
- No border / Folded edge: Works well for patches sewn into seams, such as hem tags or woven labels.

Are woven patches machine-washable? Will they fade?
Yes, woven patches are machine-washable. We use high-quality industrial threads that are woven directly into the fabric, so the design will not peel like a surface print. They are made for regular use and are suitable for streetwear, outdoor gear, uniforms, and other items that may be washed often.
What is the turnaround time from design approval to delivery?
Standard production usually takes about 20 days after design approval, not including shipping. This allows time for high-density weaving, finishing, and quality inspection. If you have a tight deadline, rush production generally takes 13–16 days when the design and schedule allow.
