Not Sure Which Custom Patch Is Right for You?
Not every design works best with the same type of patch. This quick guide can help you choose the right option based on your artwork, details, colors, and how the patches will be used.
Want a classic embroidered look?
Choose Embroidered Patches.
Best for logos, uniforms, team patches, jackets, hats, and workwear. A safe choice when your design has clear shapes, simple colors, and not too much small text.
Have small text or fine lines?
Choose Woven Patches.
A better option for small lettering, thin outlines, and detailed linework. Woven patches do not have the same raised texture, but they can show finer details more clearly.
Have gradients, photos, or complex colors?
Choose Printed Patches.
Ideal for illustrations, photo-style designs, shadows, gradients, and many colors. Printed patches help keep the artwork closer to the original design.
Need something waterproof and durable?
Choose PVC Patches.
Great for outdoor gear, backpacks, tactical equipment, police patches, military-style patches, and morale patches. Durable, easy to clean, and bold in appearance.
Want a fluffy, retro, varsity style?
Choose Chenille Patches.
Perfect for varsity jackets, school teams, large letters, numbers, mascots, and streetwear designs. A good choice when you want a bold, soft, vintage feel.
Want a clean, premium brand look?
Choose Leather Patches.
A strong option for hats, denim, bags, beanies, and brand labels. Works especially well for simple logos, brand names, and clean designs.
Still not sure which patch to choose?
Send us your logo, sketch, reference image, or even a rough idea. We can review your design first and suggest the patch type that fits it best.
Popular Ways to Use Custom Patches
From uniforms and team gear to tour merch and riding jackets, patches are made for all kinds of real-world use.
Band & Music Patches
For jackets, battle vests, hats, tour merch, and band collections.
Band & Music Patches
Band logos, album artwork, and tour designs work well on denim jackets, battle vests, hats, and merch. Embroidery is a good fit for bold logos, while woven or printed patches are better for small lettering and detailed artwork.
Baseball Team Patches
For team logos, tournaments, championship seasons, and uniforms.
Baseball Team Patches
Team logos, tournament designs, championship patches, and season keepsakes can be added to jerseys, caps, jackets, and equipment bags. If the patch is going on a uniform, knowing the placement first helps us size the artwork correctly.
Fire Department & EMS
For departments, stations, shifts, gear, and commemorative patches.
Fire Department & EMS Patches
Department, station, company, shift, and anniversary patches are commonly made for uniforms, jackets, gear bags, and collections. We pay close attention to station numbers and outer lettering so they stay clear at the finished size.
Soccer Team Patches
For club crests, tournaments, jerseys, jackets, and team gear.
Soccer Team Patches
Club crests, tournament patches, anniversary designs, and championship patches can go on jerseys, warm-up jackets, and team bags. Tell us what fabric you are working with and we can help choose a backing that makes sense for the job.
Military & Morale Patches
For packs, range bags, jackets, gear, and hook-and-loop surfaces.
Military & Morale Patches
Morale patches and original unit-style designs are often used on backpacks, range bags, jackets, and hook-and-loop gear. Velcro backing makes patches easy to swap, while PVC is a practical choice for gear that sees regular outdoor use.
Police & Law Enforcement
For departments, units, K9 teams, training, and commemorative use.
Police & Law Enforcement Patches
Department, unit, K9, training, event, and commemorative patches need to be easy to recognize at a glance. We can adjust the lettering, border, and center artwork to keep the design clear at the size you need.
Official agency artwork should only be submitted by customers authorized to use it.
Riding Club & Motorcycle
For riding vests, jackets, rallies, club logos, and event patches.
Riding Club & Motorcycle Patches
Club names, logos, rally designs, anniversary artwork, and ride patches can be made for leather vests, denim jackets, and riding gear. Large back patches work best with a strong central design, while smaller patches are useful for names and event details.
Security Guard Patches
For security uniforms, jackets, job roles, and company identification.
Security Guard Patches
Security patches usually need to make the company name or job role easy to spot on uniforms, jackets, and outerwear. Velcro works well when patches need to be changed, while sew-on backing makes more sense for a permanent uniform setup.
Designs should remain clearly different from police or government insignia. Why Work With VeperPins?
The custom patch market is crowded. Some suppliers compete only on low prices, then cut corners on fabric, thread, stitch count, or artwork review.
At VeperPins, we review your artwork before production, check the small details, and help you choose the patch method that fits your design, budget, and final use.
You do not need to be an expert in embroidered, woven, PVC, chenille, or leather patches before placing an order.
Send us your artwork, logo, sketch, or idea. We will review it and suggest the patch method that makes the most sense for your design.
Sometimes 50% embroidery is enough. Sometimes 100% embroidery works better. In other cases, woven, printed, PVC, chenille, or leather may give you a cleaner result.
Our goal is not to push the most expensive option. It is to help you choose a safe, cost-effective method that makes your artwork look good.
A logo may look clear on a large computer screen. But once it is reduced to the actual patch size, small problems can show up quickly.
Small text may blur. Thin lines may disappear. Complex borders may be hard to cut or finish cleanly.
- Text clarity: Will small text still be readable?
- Line thickness: Are the lines strong enough for stitching or cutting?
- Color contrast: Will the colors stand out clearly?
- Design density: Is the artwork too crowded at the final size?
- Border shape: Can the outside edge be finished properly?
We catch these issues during the proofing stage, before the patches go into production.
Before production starts, we send you a digital proof for approval.
This proof shows the important production details, so you can check the design before we make the actual patches.
- Patch size and shape
- Artwork layout
- Pantone color references
- Merrowed or laser-cut border
- Hook and loop, iron-on, or sew-on backing
We do not start production until you approve the proof. If something needs to be adjusted, we revise it first.
VeperPins is a direct manufacturer, not a middleman passing your order through a long chain.
This makes communication faster when you need an artwork change, a different backing option, color matching, or help with a tight deadline.
Custom patches have many small production details. Working directly with a team that understands those details can make the process much smoother.
Not every custom patch order starts with a large quantity.
Some customers need a small batch for a team, event, club, brand test, or sample run. Others need a bulk order with stable quality and better pricing.
- For small batches: we help keep setup costs and artwork details practical.
- For bulk orders: we focus on stable quality, clear timelines, and secure packing.
We help you choose an order plan based on your real needs, not guesswork.
Custom patches can include hook and loop backing, iron-on backing, sew-on backing, merrowed borders, laser-cut edges, and different materials.
You do not need to understand every option before asking for a quote.
Tell us where the patch will be used, what style you want, and your budget range. We can suggest a practical option and, when helpful, a second option for comparison.
Our goal is simple: clear suggestions, transparent pricing, and no hidden surprises.

Quick answers about artwork, production, shipping, quality, and custom patch orders.
What file format do I need to provide? Do hand-drawn sketches work?
Vector files like AI, PDF, or EPS are best. But high-res images or even a rough sketch can also work. Our designers can turn your idea into a production-ready proof for free, and we only move forward after you approve it.
Can I make changes to my design before production? Is there a fee?
Yes. Design tweaks are free before production starts. We send you a digital proof first. If anything looks off, just let us know. We only start production after you approve it.
My logo has gradients. Can embroidery handle that?
Embroidery uses physical thread, so it cannot copy smooth digital gradients or shadows. If your design has gradients, shadows, or photo-style details, printed patches are usually a better choice.
What size should I choose? Is smaller always cheaper?
Smaller is not always better. If your logo has small text or complex details, making it too small can make it blurry or hard to read. Send us your artwork, and we can suggest a safer size.
Will the final colors match my computer screen exactly?
Screens use light, while patches use thread, PVC, or leather, so slight color differences can happen. If your brand colors are strict, send us your Pantone codes and we will match them as closely as possible.
Do you handle small batches? What is your MOQ?
Yes. We can handle small batches, even dozens or fewer. Setup and digitizing costs are fixed, so smaller orders usually have a higher unit price. Bulk orders are more cost-effective.
Will I be charged a setup fee again for exact reorders?
No. If the design and size stay exactly the same, we keep your digital files and molds. For exact reorders, the setup fee is waived, which helps lower the unit price.
Can I order 100 patches but split them into two different designs?
Not under the same bulk price. Each new design needs its own setup, digitizing, and machine preparation. If the design is the same and only the thread or fabric colors change, let us know and we can usually work out a better option.
My logo has tons of detail. How do I pick the right patch style?
Use embroidery for bold classic logos, woven patches for tiny text and fine lines, printed patches for gradients or photos, and PVC patches for rugged outdoor or tactical use.
Will iron-on patches fall off in the laundry?
Standard washing is usually fine. But iron-on backing may not hold as well on slick nylon, rain jackets, or stretchy fabrics. For heavy wear and frequent washing, sew-on backing or extra stitches around the edge are safer.
How long will it take to get my order?
Most orders take roughly 4 weeks in total. This usually includes 1–2 days for digital proofing, about 20 days for bulk production, and 5–7 days for international express shipping.
I have an upcoming trade show or event. Can you handle a rush order?
Yes. Rush production generally takes 13–16 days when the design, quantity, and factory schedule allow. Tell us your must-have-by date before ordering so we can confirm production and shipping.
How is international shipping calculated? Any hidden fees?
There are no hidden fees. Shipping is calculated based on the final package weight, volume, and destination. We will confirm the cost clearly before you pay.
What happens if my package gets lost or stuck in customs?
Every order includes tracking. If the package is truly lost by the carrier or stuck due to an issue outside your control, we will take responsibility and help reproduce or reship the order.
Can you split my bulk order and ship to multiple addresses?
Yes. We can split shipments to different offices, warehouses, or event locations. We can also send part of the order by faster shipping and the rest by a slower method if needed.
What if my order arrives short or with defective patches?
We inspect and count every batch before shipping. If something is short or defective, send us a photo. We can offer a pro-rated refund or add replacements to your next order.
If the bulk order does not match the approved digital proof, will you remake it?
Yes. We produce based on the approved digital proof. If the final patches clearly have the wrong text, wrong size, or major color error caused by our production, we will remake them.
How durable are your patches? What if they fray or fade?
We use quality threads and durable backing materials. Under normal wear and washing, the patches should not easily fade or unravel. If there is a real manufacturing defect, contact us and we will help.
Can you mail me a physical sample before a bulk order?
Yes, but making one custom sample still requires setup and machine preparation. To save cost, many customers use our high-res digital proof first. We can also mail random physical samples from past work if you only want to check quality.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind or ordered the wrong size?
Custom patches are made specifically for your logo and cannot be resold. Once production starts, we do not accept cancellations or returns unless there is a factory defect. Please check your size, quantity, and proof carefully before approval.
